Where is SMI based?
We are located in Forest Grove, Oregon, approximately 25 miles west of Portland.


Where are SMI products made?
SMI has been making quality furniture in Oregon for nearly 30 years.  While some of the raw material is imported from other countries, we still follow our high standards of quality in materials and craftsmanship, and manufacture all of our products in Oregon.


Do you have a drop-ship program?
Yes.  No matter where you purchase your SMI products, we can ship them directly to your location from our factory.  The retailer where you purchase the products from can make the arrangements for you.


What is your lead-time?
For most orders, our lead-time from the time we receive the order to the time the order ships from our facilities is 4 weeks.  Custom and volume orders may take longer.


Where can I find pricing information for SMI products?
SMI does not sell directly to the general public, so we can not provide any pricing unless you are an authorized dealer.   To find a dealer simply contact us, or visit our Where to Buy page to find a dealer.


Can you send me a catalog?
We do not sell directly to the general public, which means we do not have catalogs or brochures that can be sent directly to consumers.  Please browse our web site for the latest product offerings.


Do you take custom orders?
If you do not find what you need in our standard line of products, we can customize an existing product to more closely match your needs.  We can also create new designs based on information you provide.  For more information please visit our Custom Shop page.

Are there any retailers that stock SMI’s products?
Whether one is furnishing an office, a studio, or a classroom; there are often many personal choices that factor into ordering a piece of furniture.  Questions concerning configuration, size, finish and others, factor into making a purchase.  Stocking every configuration is very expensive for most retailers.  There are also storage issues with stocking large items such as furniture.  For these reasons, there are not very many dealers that stock our products.  Still there are a few dealers that stock some of our more popular products in order to respond to an immediate need.  Simply contact us and we can help you find a dealer that may stock the item you are interested in.


Where can I get assembly instructions for my items?
If the item(s) you purchased require assembly, detailed instructions should have been included in the packaging.  If they were missing or were misplaced, you can always call us at 1-800-821-5544, or e-mail us to request a copy of the instructions you need.


Will I need more help than the instructions offer?
We try to make our assembly instructions clear, and to include all the necessary detail.  But if you ever have difficulty with assembling an SMI product, a qualified technician is just a phone call away.  Our hours are Monday through Friday, from 8 A.M. to 4:45 P.M. Pacific Std. Time (PST).


What should I do if there are missing parts?
Even if a product is shipped disassembled, we first assemble the product at the factory to insure proper fit and function.  The product is then packaged as it is being disassembled to insure that there are no missing parts.  If you still find that there are parts missing, please call us at 1-800-821-5544 and we will send you the needed parts. You may need the assembly instructions for the product to do this.


What does your warranty cover?
Under correct use and normal operating conditions, the warranty protects the original purchaser of a piece of SMI product for one year from the date of shipment from SMI, to be free from defects in material and workmanship.  If within the term of the warranty, you find any defect in material or workmanship, you can count on us to make it right with fast warranty service.  No assembly or labor included.  The warranty does not cover abuse, loss, improper handling, alteration, misuse, neglect, normal wear, or finishes.  For more information visit our Warranty page.
